Meet Jacqueline Leachman, a 3rd year Ph.D. candidate in Nutritional Sciences at the University of Kentucky, and the October 2020 featured Science Sista of the month! She works in Dr. Analia Loria’s lab where her dissertation work focuses on the mechanisms connecting Adverse Childhood Experiences and obesity in women. She recently published a research article in the American Journal of Physiology, Endocrinology & Metabolism titled, “Exacerbated obesogenic response in female mice exposed to early life stress is linked to fat depot-specific upregulation of leptin protein expression”. Jackie is also working on her Graduate Certificate in College Teaching and Learning with aspirations of entering into a teaching position after successfully defending her dissertation.
